>Our Carer's Story - Celebrate 100 year old centenarian

Care, is not just looking after our clients. Its about extending our care to our staff members. This year, we will be ensuring that we celebrate our carers stories. This month, our wonderful carer Ela has shared the story of her grandfather the centenarian - who has reached the amazing mile stone of 100 years old. Ela has shared her story in her own words. I will be taking a leaf out of her grandfathers book by walking daily and eating a health diet. I hope you enjoy her story.
My grandad was born January 1923 in Tadeusz Wesolowsk and still lives in the neighbourly border of Ukraine. He met our grand mum in 1941 and they married after the 2nd world War. They had 8 children, one sadly passed away in the early months. The rest of their 8 children live till today in different parts of Poland.
My grandad has today 22 grand children and 11 grand grand children. He has been a widow for 10 years now and all his time he's been looking after by my mum Ana the youngest daughter.
After the War my grandad and all his family live in same little village in Poland as a farmer plus working shifts in local Sugar beet factory. He also spent 6 years working for catholic local church.My grandfather is very strong man with no health problem's. He has had two small strokes. He has maintained his traditional fatty diet till now and he has fully recovered from the strokes.
The family had a lovely party to celebrate his 100th birthday. Unfortunately, only 3 daughters were able to attend his party. However, with his daughters he also had lots of friends attend. My grandad has full capacity with a good long term memory and he shares his wonderful stories. He is in great health and only needs a bit assistance with toileting and dressing. He uses a walking frame but continues with his daily walking exercise.
