Darrell McMurrey (Home Development Manager) had a commitment to raising awareness to the needs of clients and children that have been impacted by Cancer. He therefore committed himself to having his head shaved by members of A Class Care Team including our Recruitment Officer and Company Director (Nicola Jones).
A Class Care provides End of Life Care and Cancer care to vulnerable adults that Live within their homes. However, we recognise that Cancer is not an illness that just effects the elderly but that of our younger generation. It is for this reason we have elected to give something back to the Local Charity East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice. www.each.org.uk
Our staff have received specific training on Cancer Care which gives them the confidence and the skills to support our clients. The training teaches our Caregivers how to support someone to make their own decisions and to take part in day to day activities, to help them stay independent for as long as possible.
Many people don’t realise that simple things like making people feel involved in their care, being treated as an individual and not as someone who is terminal and engaging with our clients at all levels are some of the most effective ways of making people with a terminal illness feel valued and useful.
The money raised by Head Shaving Challenge will be used to help improve the lives of people living with cancer and to help fund research into the causes, prevention and possible cures.
