A Class Care has been providing Live in Care for Couples for over 13 years.
With elderly parents ourselves, we understand what is important to couples as they grow older. For many people, this means remaining together in their own home for as long as possible.
We have always worked towards one simple goal: to treat our clients as if they were our own parents.
It is for this reason that we provide an affordable and personalised live in care service that helps husbands, wives and partners remain together in the home they know and love.
The care we provide is based on your individual choices, wishes, routines and social preferences. Our aim is to help both you and your partner maintain as much independence as possible while receiving the right level of support.
Our experienced and highly trained live in carers can provide specialist care for people living with a range of conditions, including:
Dementia
Parkinson's
Multiple sclerosis
Stroke
Cancer
Palliative care
We can also support couples living with mobility difficulties and frailty, those who require home from hospital support, or people who would simply benefit from companionship care at home.
Whatever your circumstances, our award-winning live in care service is designed to help you and your spouse continue living a full and meaningful life together.
I have always asked the question: what does your home mean to you?
For most people, home means safety, security and familiarity. It may be the place where you raised your children, welcomed your grandchildren or celebrated many birthdays and anniversaries with your partner.
Either way, your home is filled with memories. It is somewhere most people want to remain for as long as possible.
At A Class Care, we understand how important it is to remain in your own home and stay with the person you love. This is why we provide live in care for couples.
Needing care should not automatically mean leaving your home or being separated from your husband, wife or partner.
Live in Care for Couples is where a carefully selected carer lives in your home and provides support to one or both partners.
Depending on your individual needs, your live in carer may help with:
Medication support
Preparing meals
Washing and dressing
Mobility around the home
Shopping and hosehold tasks
Companionship
Respite care for a spouse who has become the main carer
Attending appointments
Continuning hobbies and social activities
Agreed night-time support
One partner may require personal care and medication support, while the other may need companionship, help with meals or a break from their caring responsibilities.
We will assess both of your needs and make sure your care arrangements work for you as individuals and as a couple.
Stay Together in Your Own Home
Live in care is an alternative to moving into a residential care home.
It allows you to remain together in the familiar and secure surroundings of your own home. You can continue sleeping in your own bedroom, eating meals together and following the routines you have built over many years.
Share the Cost of Care
In a residential care home, couples would usually need to pay for two separate rooms.
With couples live in care, one live in carer may be able to support both partners, depending on the type and level of care required. This means you can share the main cost of having one carer living in your home rather than paying for two separate care home placements.
We will always complete a full care assessment before confirming whether one live in carer can safely meet both of your needs.
Personalised Care for Both Partners
You and your spouse may have very different care needs.
For example, your spouse may be living with dementia while you require support with mobility or a break from being the main carer.
Although you are receiving care as a couple, you will each have your own personalised care plan. This will reflect your individual health needs, preferences, routines and personal goals.
Receiving care at home means that your life does not have to stop or completely change.
Your children can visit at any time of the day without having to follow scheduled visiting hours. Your grandchildren can still come into your home and jump on the sofa. These may seem like small things, but they can make a huge difference.
Your daily routines can continue at times that suit you. You can decide when you would like to get up, eat your meals, go out or go to bed.
Live in care for couples can help you:
Remain together in your own home
Maintain your normal routines
Keep your independence
Stay connected to family, friends and neighbours
Continue attending local activities
Receive consistent care from someone who knows you
Respite care for a spouse who has become the main carer
Keep your pets
Reduce the pressure on a spouse who has become the main carer
Avoid being unncessarily separated
Award-winning Care
A Class Care has been recognised by the Home Care Awards in 2024 and 2026. Read more about our awards.
We are proud of our awards, but what matters most to us is the care and support we provide every day.
We put the needs of our clients first and work closely with couples and their families to provide a service that feels personal, safe and reliable.
We use a secure online care platform to record care notes, care plans and medication information.
Where consent has been provided, authorised family members can access relevant care updates. This gives families peace of mind and helps them remain involved in the care of their loved ones.
Our carers can also provide support with:
Online video calls with family and friends
Online shopping
Electronic mediciation records
Recording daily care notes
Sharing important updates with the care management team
Our technology supports good communication, but it does not replace personal contact. Our care managers and carers will continue speaking directly with clients, families and the professionals involved in their care.
Our clients are supported by local care managers who understand the communities in which they work.
Our teams have links with GPs, pharmacies, assistive technology services and local community groups. Where appropriate and with your consent, we can work alongside the health and social care professionals involved in your care.
These local connections help us provide joined-up support and enhance your care experience, enabling you and your spouse to remain safely at home.
Our goal has always been to support better health outcomes while helping each client achieve their own personal goals.
Our care systems allow us to record and monitor changes that could affect a client’s health or wellbeing, including:
An increased risk of falls
Changes in mobility
Reduced food or fluid intake
Recurring chest infections
Signs of a possible urinary tract infection
Changes in behaviour
Changes that could increase the risk of a hospital admission
Medication concerns
Where appropriate, trained staff may use the NEWS2 assessment tool to help identify signs that a client’s health may be deteriorating.
Any concerns are reported and escalated to the appropriate healthcare professional so that further advice or support can be requested.
