Dementia UK. Fund Raiser
Giving something back to our community and our clients is something that we are passionate about. Our dedicated Live-In Care Services Manager for Cambridge (Elisha Earle) had wanted to do something special for our Cambridge Clients. She had approached Dementia UK to see if we could work with them to raise money to continue their voluntary Dementia Help Line.
Here is what Elisha had to say:
I wanted to raise money through work for this cause. I have worked with clients with Dementia and Learning Disabilities since I was 18 years old. I know how important it is for both our clients and their families to receive the right care and support especially at times of a crises. We provide excellent care to our Live-In Care and Home Care clients in Cambridge who have dementia and we know that along with our carer’s support other agency support is also needed. Especially, if their loved ones just need a bit of advise.
As we are experienced with working with clients who have dementia, we wanted to highlight the condition and work with providers to raise money so Dementia UK can continue with their community efforts.
Dementia UK is a charity that provides Admiral Nurses for families that are affected by Dementia. Admiral Nurses are registered nurses who specialise in dementia, helping family carers gain the necessary skills to assist with dementia care, promoting positive approaches in living well with dementia and improving the quality of life for everyone involved. The services that they provide is invaluable.
- At Dementia UK £5 could pay for an admiral nurse to answer helpline calls for two hours in the evening - a lifeline to carers in crisis.
- £35 could cover the cost of two people phoning the admiral nurse dementia helpline - calls are always free.

With the prizes donated by our local suppliers we have managed to raise a generous amount of £370.39. This money can help to cover the cost of 4 people calling the admiral nurse and over 20 hours of evening helpline support. This is a brilliant achievement for our community.
